Popular AMC cable TV series, "Mad Men," which depicts the exploits of a 1960s Madison Advertising Agency, has spent much of the season trying to win the account of world class automaker Jaguar and XK-E sports car.
The portrayal hasn't been completely positive, in fact, the company was associated with prostitution and suicide. Now, the UK automaker is speaking out about its reaction to the company's image in the story lines.
Jaguar's tweet feed read: "Loved the pitch, didn't love the process We applaud Peggy leaving SCDP." The company released an official statement that read: "It's been a wild ride. You see it when we see it: We cringe, we laugh, we smile."
According to reports, Jaguar didn't request to be written into the show and had very little input aside from a few questions about the cars featured in the show. Stuart Schorr, vice president of Jaguar North America said there were a few cringe-worthy parts throughout the series, but according to the website, Jalopnik, said "We like it because it captures the essence of Jaguar as more than just a machine - something emotional, alive. ... Our job is to promote the desirability of our cars, not the morality of... fictional characters."
