Although it will be a while before the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio officially launches, the company has released a new 360-degree video that will give potential drivers a chance to experience the car from the backseat.
The clip lasts two and a half minutes and allows YouTube viewers to drag the camera around to give a dynamic and enriching experience. The camera view gives uses the perspective of sitting in the middle of the backseat. Dragging the mouse to the sides allows you to see the windows and surroundings. The driver is maneuvering the Italian sedan the entire time and you can hear the car screech as he makes sharp turns along the test track on a cloudy day.
According to RoadandTrack, the Giulia’s exhaust can be heard from inside the cabin. The V6 engine sounds throaty, which is proper by Alfa Romeo standards. The audio in the video is a bit muffled, however.
Automobile Mag notes that the driver did not reach the car’s top speed of 191mph in the 360-degree video, but he showcased the chassis upgrades of the Giulia Quadrifolgio. The Quadrifoglio is the boldest version of the Alfa Romeo Giulia yet, featuring a 2.9-litter twin turbo V6 engine that can produce 506hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. The vehicle also features 19-inch alloy wheels and Pirelli P Zero Corsa Tires. It has an active aerodynamic front splitter and comes with optional carbon-ceramic brakes that will provide smooth stops whenever necessary.
CarandDriver also writes that the Giulia features Alfa Romeo’s new rear-wheel-drive platform. There are control arms in the front of the suspension plus a multilink set at the back. The Quadrifoglio is the top-end model in the series, which will showcase a rear differential capable of torque-vectoring through clutches. The fenders and doors of the vehicle are made of aluminum to keep it lightweight, while the roof and hood are made of carbon fiber. The weight distribution of the car is 50/50, which is the ideal torsional rigidity in the class. The aluminum engine is said to have been co-developed with Ferrari.
The official price of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has not yet been announced, but it may be close to $75,000.
The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is expected to become available in the United States in mid-2016. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the unique video repeatedly.
