Prospects will be able to see the revamped Volkswagen Polo R as it debuts at the 2017 World Rally Championship.

As per Volkswagen's official sketch, the vehicle will have a redesigned body kit, Digital Trends reported. On top of appearance upgrades, it is expected to be faster, safer, lighter and more powerful - all in-line with the latest FIA regulations.
Complemented by larger front and rear wings, the increase in width comes at 50mm, touched by an ombre exterior of dark blue and white. It weighs 25kg less than the latest model, Top Gear noted. This is a drop from 1,200 to 1,175 kg.
Regulators have permitted a 2mm increase in the size of the turbo's air restrictor (34mm - 36mm). With regards to engine, the Polo R packs a 1.6-liter four-cylinder type. Next year, the vehicle is pegged to lay down 375bhp in terms of power.
Performance specs have not been disclosed yet, but improvements are nevertheless expected until the racer makes its way to the tracks.

Jost Capito, Volkswagen Motorsport Director, assured improvement in future models, "They will be considerably more dynamic, whilst at the same time being safer. As usual, we are working painstakingly on the development of the next generation of the Polo R WRC."
"The key between now and the start of the next season is to achieve the best possible prerequisites to allow the 2017 Polo R WRC to be as successful as its two predecessors," he said.
Meanwhile, Motor Authority cited Capito's exit at Volkswagen, as he was hired by McLaren to take the Formula One helm. Whether or not he accepts is yet to be confirmed.
Volkswagen's contender will first appear at Rally Monte Carlo in January next year. The vehicle has been in development since 2015, CarAdvice.com.au pointed.
