Audi recently unveiled an extra-long limo with six doors. The car was reportedly made for a mystery client.
The German automaker built the Audi A8 L Extended over a span of one year. The luxury car features six seats, a wheelbase of 4.22 meters and a total length of 6.36 meters. The limo had extra braces on the roof and sills to enhance its rigidity to almost equal that of the standard A8 L. The wheelbase was increased by 1.09 meters after the whole body as redeveloped from the A-pillar to the rear.
Auto Express notes that according to the company, some of the issues that they had to face while creating the model include increasing the strength of the body and maintaining an elegant style despite the massive midsection. The A8 L Extended has a 3.0-liter petrol V6 engine with 310bhp and 440Nm of torque. It can move from 0 to 62mph in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph. The 2.4-tonne saloon also features brakes taken from the Audi S8 and 19-inch rims. The car is also expected to have better handling than regular stretch limos because of the Audi Quattro AWD system beneath the body.
The interior of the Audi A8 L Extended showcased Volcona leather seats that are can all be adjusted electrically. All six front-facing passengers can recline their seats to look out of the big 2.4-meter glass roof. The limo has sunblinds throughout to keep sunlight and heat out.The seats furthest in the back can also take advantage of an entertainment display and cooler.
GQ presented images of the Audi limo. The interior of the vehicle notably had a luxurious feel with the cream leather and dark wood accents. The massive glass roof is one of its best features, extending from the top of the driver to the last row. The rearmost seats appear to be the most comfortable and had access to most of the controls. Passengers and the driver can enter the limo on either side, with a separate door for each seat. Each seat is also equipped with a seatbelt and armrests.
The special limo is one of a kind and was allegedly ordered by an unknown European client. The price of the Audi A8 L Extended has not been revealed, although the company is most likely open to more orders from exclusive clients.
