While other automakers around the globe have shied away from attempting on producing on hydrogen fuel cell technology, the Germany-based automaker Mercedes-Benz seems to be more interested in areas no one has tread their path.
Mercedes-Benz is set to produce not only one but two Hydrogen cell fuel technology in the months to come. Confirming this news in Automotive world, Mercedes-Benz tried out its best hand in the Hydrogen cars. According to the report, the luxury car maker will build either sedans or SUV. The official date to launch the vehicles is not yet made known.
"The management of the Mercedes Benz is still needed to take a decision on this. It needs to decide which one going to be the second Hydrogen vehicles. Whether are they sedans or Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV)? Only the time will decide. Until then you can only keep thinking of the version. But some there are things which we can confirm. Initially, the Hydrogen model will be exclusively tested in California. And seeing its rating of success on the tough and smooth roads, we have plans to extend it to the New York later, New Jersey and Connecticut. We need to prepare to look after any technical snags mounted on these Hydrogen vehicles. And we should be prepared to handle the tough environment," said Sascha Simon, Mercedes-Benz U.S. Product Planner.
Auto makers from the other corners of the world, such as Toyota or Honda, too are racing in the making their mark in the Hydrogen fuel cell technology. The speculations of Mercedes to build new Hydrogen cars gave much pushing edge after launching of F125 Concept coupe. The model featured a 620 mile driving range brought about by its Hydrogen fuel cell technology.
