Engineers from Elsaco, a company in the Czech Republic, have created a racing simulator like you have never seen before.
In what looks like a ride from Six Flags, this virtual reality game has taken the gaming experience to the next level. The machine sits on four legs, which move with the position of the car. Three 27-inch LED displays give the driver a panoramic view of what is happening in the game. And of course, there is an accelerator, brake and clutch pedal.
What sets this apart from other virtual reality driving experiences is the connectivity from the game action to the cockpit of the car. The simulator uses data about the position of the car, how fast it is going, and the G-force to jolt the driver's seat as if you were actually sitting in the car, according to Daily Mail. Navigating over different terrain sends vibrations, along with G-force overload when accelerating or braking up to 2G.
Elsaco has stated that the simulator is designed for rally, circuit and other racing platforms. A 3-D model also exists, reports Twi Movies, which has a 47-inch LED display.
Taking nearly two years to get to the pre-serial production stage, the company found an answer to achieve the model that currently exists. "The result is an almost noiseless, compact platform which is able to operate without any special requirements," Elsaco said in a statement.
A basic 3-D model will cost the equivalent of a "middle class car," so if you would rather pretend like your are driving instead of actually doing it, this would be a great investment. An Oculus Rift headset, which will be released in 2016, according to Legendary Car Life, will really take away the distractions of real life and pull you out of the real world and into the game.
