Mercedes-Benz announced its first four-cylinder diesel version 2013 GLK.
The German luxury car maker has produced five and six cylinder diesel versions in the U.S. market earlier, but this is a first time for a four-cylinder version. The announcement suggests that Mercedes is serious about introducing more diesel versions in United States.
"We are hopeful that the audience would definitely consider of buying our latest version in diesel," said Gunter Fischer, project manager for Mercedes Benz.
"It’s not a matter of cheaper price for diesel versions or someone could save money if drives a diesel car every day. Mercedes never stopped working on introducing newest technology in diesel cars too. Even in the diesel versions, we have introduced advanced equipments and features which are not even available in gasoline or electric cars. 2013 GLK has strong outlook, smoother interiors and much further advanced technologies in its construction stage. I think people would love to drive the diesel car,” Fischer said.
Several auto experts have said that the 2013 GLK is the strongest diesel version of its series in the U.S. market.
