Toyota revealed the newly designed 2013 Avalon on Friday at the New York International Auto Show.
The new mid-size sedan is re-conceptualized for the premium sedan segment with a "progressive and stylish exterior design". The concept model is said to offer an improved dynamic performance, a greater degree refinement, and a highly spacious and comfortable interior experience with an abundance of outstanding latest technologies.
According to the company's report, the 2013 Avalon is to have an American theme. Both of the exterior and interior designs were handled by Calty Design Research Inc., whose facilities are in South California and Michigan. The Mich.-based Toytao Technical Center led the engineering development, and the Toyota's facility in Georgetown, Ky. will assemble the parts.
"True to the future product mission set forth by Toyota Motor Corporation President, Akio Toyoda, the new Avalon's more stylish, bold, sporty exterior design and luxurious interior styling are matched by an enhanced dynamic package, a combination that foreshadows the more compelling and passionate nature of future Toyota products," write the Japanese automaker in a statement.
The new Avalon is expected to appear at dealerships later this year, according to Toyota.
