Opening Day 2015: New Chevys in Position Atop Comerica Park Fountain

The Detroit Tigers will host the Minnesota Twins for their home opener this Monday, which means a lot of work is in store for crew members at Comerica Park.

The kitchen has been getting ready all week long for Opening Day, and they expect to work through Easter Sunday to make sure there's enough Queso Pork Rinds and Chicken Bacon Cheddar Sandwiches available for visitors, according to MLive.com.

For the last six seasons, Chevrolet has selected new vehicles from its lineup to display at Comerica to be seen by nearly 3 million fans annually. This year is no exception, as two new models have been placed atop the Chevrolet Fountain in centerfield.

Chevrolet selected a Velocity Yellow Corvette Z06 and a special Midnight Edition Silverado for the 2015 season, to keep a "bird's eye view" of their hometown team, according to Chevrolet VP of Marketing Paul Edwards.

"As the Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball, what better way could Chevrolet show our love of the game than by giving our vehicles a bird's eye view of our hometown team?" asked Edwards, according to a company release.

Chevy's fountain features a number of cool water displays and the sound of a growling tiger can be heard with each Detroit home run.

Getting the new Chevy's up there is no easy task though. It takes crew members three hours to get each vehicle in the perfect position, and this they had to do so in the rain.

"We like to think of these vehicles as the Chevrolet cheering section to drive those centerfield home runs," Edwards said.

Opening Day at Comerica starts on Monday at 1:08 p.m. The park will open two hours before first pitch, so fans are welcomed to come early to alleviate any delays and lines that they might expierence.
