Ford Motor announced on Monday night of its new 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedan, which is scheduled to be present at the New York International Auto Show.

The vehicle plays an important role in the automaker’s attempts to revive its ailing production unit.

"The new Lincoln MKZ represents the future of Lincoln in both style and substance," said Jim Farley, Group Vice President, Global Marketing, Sales and Service. "It is proof of our commitment to deliver a new breed of Lincolns for a new generation of Lincoln clients – motor cars that are distinctive, elegant, full of technology and a delight to own."

Mark Fields, Ford Americas President, said the company will launch seven new models after presenting Lincoln MKZ in New York.

“A brand with a history but also a future. Spending decades at the Ford, we have realized that we have a long journey in front of us,” Fields said.

The 2013 MKZ sedan will be launched next year in hybrid version as well as in traditional powertrain.

Dave Sullivan, manager for product analysis for Auto Pacific Inc, said in confidence that indeed the newest model will make its impression besides best of the brands competitive in the market.

“For Lincoln to come out with a vehicle that is not a cookie-cutter of the Ford Fusion, where people can get this glass roof that’s coming out. It’s really going to get people to give a second look at Lincoln,” says Sullivan.

In the last year of its sales figures, the Lincoln sales fell off from its target numbers in the market. However during the first two months of 2012, the Lincoln is up by 4.6 per cent. In total, the Ford brand sales are up by 11.2 per cent.
