40 BMW Vehicles Arrive in London for Olympic

BMW Group delivered 40 special vehicles to the Olympic park in London for the upcoming Olympic Games this summer.

As the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympics Games (LOCOG), BMW has been reported earlier this year to ship a fleet of some 4,000 vehicles to furnish the Olympic. The first batch of 40 vehicles, including the 520d and 320d EfficientDynamics, have arrived.

“We are extremely proud for our cars to be involved in the London 2012 Games and are excited about seeing them in full service this summer in these eye-catching designs,” said Tim Abbott, Managing Director of BMW UK.

The German automaker has stated that all of its vehicles will sector lead with EfficientDynamics technologies meaning that it will achieve LOCOG’s strict 120g CO₂/ km emissions target.

“We were selected as a partner based on our ability to provide such a diverse fleet that could achieve the challenging emissions threshold as set by LOC

OG. The Games fleet will include our class leading efficient diesels, hybrids, electric vehicles and even bicycles,” Abbott said.

Paul Deighton, CEO OF LOCOG, says “The BMW fleet will become a familiar sight around our venues this summer and will help us perform a huge range of tasks to will help to ensure the smooth running of the Games. Taking delivery of the first vehicles is an exciting moment for us as we continue our preparation for the Olympic and Paralympics Games.”

The London Olympic 2012 Games are set to commence from July 27 and the Paralympics Games will start on August 29.
