The automotive preview teaser game doesn't usually excite us—with shadowy cover-ups disguising near-finished production models—except when the subject of the tease is a highly anticipated sports car.
At the New York auto show, early next month, McLaren plans to unveil its carbon fiber-laden Sports Series coupe, which will compete with everyday supercars (if there is such a category) like the Porsche 911 rather than the competitive set for the 650S.
The video, embedded below, shows a camouflaged sports car ripping around a snowy test track and growling all the while. The sound that you hear is from a V-8 engine, presumably the 3.8-liter biturbo engine from the 650S, and we can't wait for a closer listen.
Confused about the Sports Series name? So are we: The model codenamed P13 follows the P12, which is the McLaren P1, and the P11, which is the 650S (nee 12C, nee MP4-12C). Whatever the name, we're excited by the project.
