Audi revealed its second generation R8 Coupe online ahead of its official debut at next week's Geneva Motor Show where it will be displayed alongside the fully-electric e-tron.
Here's what we know so far:
What is it?
The new R8 will be available with two engine options, the most powerful being a 10-cylinder 610-horsepower that can reach 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 205 mph.
What's new or changed?
The R8 uses LED headlights that can be supplemented by a laser high beam lighting module as an available option to drivers. The laser lighting uses high-intensity laser diodes, which create a lot of light energy from a small component.
The headlights contain one laser module that operate with four high-intensity laser diodes. The module budles the four intense blue-light laser beams, according to Audi.
Audi also made an unexpected announcement this week that a battery-powered version of the two-seat coupe will also be available this year. The R8 e-tron features a T-shaped pack with a 92 kilowatt-hour kWh capacity.
Can I buy it yet?
You can't buy it yet, but Audi has confirmed the R8 will reach dealerships this summer. Pricing has not been announced but the conventional R8s sell for around $175,000.
