Subaru of America, Inc. made an announcement Thursday that it has plans to expand its line of award-winning crossover-type vehicles with the all-new 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek, scheduled to show itself at the New York International Show next month.
Scheduled to arrive the market this fall, the new compact crossover model has a rugged, wild, standard all-wheel drive and has 8.7 inches of ground clearance. The versatile and fun-to-drive Subaru XV Crosstrek is a combination of bold five-door design with an expanded-capability chassis, high fuel economy and comfort for everyday use.
The Subaru expects the Crosstrek to get 25/33 mpg in city/highway roads. Two versions of the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive will be available depending on transmission. A five-speed manual transmission is standard in all its models. A CVT with paddle shifters is also available. The latter one allows shoppers to choose from their favourite six preset ratios. A standard eco gauge will help improve gas mileage and it shows the driver when the vehicle is being driver most efficiently.
On interiors part, the Crosstrek boasts of 35.4 inches of backseat legroom. The 60/40-split second-row seats fold flat to create 52.4 cubic feet of cargo room. The cargo area is equipped with a removable waterproof tray and hooks for tying down luggage or securing grocery bags. Prices haven’t been announced yet.
