The last minutes are counting for nonprofits to apply for esteemed Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, which involves giving away 100 cars to 100 eligible nonprofits in the next 100 days. Beneficiaries of these vehicles will be voted through public social network site, Facebook.

Toyota will feature five nonprofit organizations everyday and the highest vote bidder will receive the vehicle of its choice among different models. The same procedure of selection will continue over 100 days and 100 vehicles will be distributed to 100 nonprofit organizations. Scott County’s Quest Farm, a working farm community for adults with developmental disabilities, was chosen to be one of five groups to be featured on day 71, July 18. On the Toyota USA Facebook page, Quest Farm said administrators would select the Toyota Sienna Mobility van if they were chosen by Facebook voters. It also says the van would be used to take Quest Farm residents to volunteer work around Georgetown.

The other three central Kentucky-based organizations are among the 500 finalists which are Bluegrass Pride, Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program and Kentucky Blood Bank. All the three serve Scott County. Bluegrass Pride, an environmental awareness group, will appear on the site on day 22, May 30. The Kentucky Blood Bank, which distributes blood products to numerous hospitals and clinics in the state, has been selected on day 61, July 8. A vehicle from Toyota would be used by volunteers to make hospital runs. In 2011too, Toyota received thousands of such applications and distributed 100 vehicles to nonprofits in 31 states including the District of Columbia (DC).

Applications for this year’s program will close in less than one week at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 26. Complete information is available at www.100carsforgood.com.
