The Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced it will sell eco-friendly five-door hatchback Mitsubishi Mirage in Thailand starting from March 28. Mitsubishi Mirage made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2011 and earns the reputation of manufacturing the model in a new third factory in Laem Chabang, Thailand, which is the largest automaker’s factory outside Japan.
Being described by the Japanese automaker as Eco-friendly Global Compact car, the Mirage will be rolled out across the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) after its debut sales in Japan, Europe and other countries successively. Reports indicate that the hatchback car might replace the ever ageing Colt in UK by next year. The Mitsubishi Mirage is powered by a 1.2 liter MIVEC engine allowing a low fuel consumption of 22 km/liter at a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The MMC has plans to sell of 2,500 units per month of the Mitsubishi Mirage in Thailand to battle against existing model such as Perodua Viva which is selling RM 37,000 to RM 42,000 in the 1.0 liter version.
Price of the vehicle has been fixed at 380,000 (approx. £7700) Thai Bhat.
