Kia will unveil its rugged Soul-based "Trail'ster" e-AWD concept this Thursday at the Chicago Auto Show.
What we know:
Kia created a bold new design for the Trail'ster, which includes a fully retractable canvas roof and an electric all-wheel-drive system. A turbocharged engine can be found under the hood for those living in the city looking for an outdoor adventure.
The automaker is promising that the "turbocharged Trail'ster takes Kia's iconic Soul to a new level of expression, efficiency and capability," according to a company release.
The photo above shows the back three-quarters angle from the ground, so it doesn't reveal a whole lot, but you can see the round light theme continues to the rear with protection panels, lower body cladding, five-hole wheels and a red-trim.
What's rumored:
The word "turbocharged" could mean the electric motor drives the rear wheels, whereas the unspecified turbo petrol engine drives the front wheels. Kia's description of the vehicle seems to indicate that the Trail'ster could hit mass production in the near future, though we don't know for sure yet.
Debut info:
Kia will take the wraps off the concept during a big unveiling at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show on Thursday, February 12, at 9 a.m.
Check back later this week for more information on the new Kia Trail'ster.
