This is it: General Motors has unveiled the 2016 Chevrolet Volt for the first time, and a lucky group of media at the Consumer Electronics Show were there to see it.
Thanks to social media sharing, we are able to share live photos of the next-generation Volt plug-in hybrid. Although a formal debut is scheduled for the Detroit auto show next week, GM ostensibly wanted to meld the Volt's tech credentials with the rest of the innovations that the show will bring. Another photo from the event shows the Volt's softer, yet more nuanced front fascia:

Although this was the first automotive-related debut of CES, it likely won't be the last. The Volt has the potential (pun: ours) to outpace the current (also ours) model and give a new face to GM's advanced powertrain systems.
Stay with us as we cover CES and throughout the first weeks of January as more of the 2016 Volt is uncovered.
