The new 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR, which recently debuted in the U.K., demonstrates its balancing skills minus help from traction or stability aids in a new video.
Boasting a zero to 60 mph rate of 4.5 seconds and a top track speed of 162 mph, the SVR is the first Land Rover offering to feature the high-performance SVR badge, according to the automaker.
When it was tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Range Rover Sport SVR notched a lap time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
Touted as "the world's most capable performance SUV," the new SVR has a lightweight aluminum frame and runs on a 5-liter supercharged V8 engine generating 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its four-wheel-drive chassis and the eight-speed have been tuned for optimum performance, Land Rover said.
"The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle's outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design," John Edwards, managing director of Land Rover special operations, said in a statement. "Its exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set."
The new video shows the SVR's balance while driving on a closed course; each Range Rover Sport SVR will be equipped with advanced chassis control systems, the automaker said.
For the inside, the SRV has seats that are finished in Oxford leather with quilted centers. The interior is available in four colors: Ebony Black; Ebony Black and Cirrus White; Ebony Black and Pimento Red; and Ebony Black and Tan.
All models will be fitted with 21-inch alloy wheels specifically for the SVR and all-season tires.
Launching in 2005, the SUV model has had more than half a million vehicles built to date.
