The age-old question for our time might be this one: Can I bring my favorite holiday foods on the plane with me?
The TSA has seen "just about everything," and carry-on food is OK depending on the treat. A bottle of wine is out of the question since it counts as a liquid, but an apple pie should be fine, although it may be subject to additional screening.
Pumpkin Pie
Pies are welcome on the plane as long as they can go through X-ray screening, according to the TSA Blog. Passengers are advised to bring pies as carry-on so they don't get squashed in luggage.
Turkey
As a solid food, turkey should be fine to make it through TSA screening.
Cranberry Sauce
Sorry, but cranberry sauce counts as a liquid and is specifically mentioned on the TSA's list of forbidden food items.
Gravy
Ditto for gravy, which is listed along with salsa, maple syrup and jam as verboten carry-on.
Sweet Potatoes
While they're not a liquid, sweet potatoes would probably come under the same category as the creamy spreads such as cheese dip and peanut butter that won't make it through the checkpoint. Better carefully put this treat into your checked bag or just eat your fill of it at Thanksgiving.
