iPhone 6 Release Date: New Phone Expected on October 14?

Don't expect the iPhone 6 to be released before October, according to a new report.

MacRumors released a report this week, citing an unnamed source who was at an internal Apple Retail meeting, that the phone won't debut until Tuesday, October 14.

Apple usually releases its new iPhones in September so an October release would come as some surprise. Previous rumors indicated that the next iPhone would be out around *blank

"Apple may be planning to launch the iPhone 6 on Tuesday, October 14 as the month itself will be an incredibly busy one for the company, according to a source that spoke to MacRumors citing an internal Apple Retail Store meeting," wrote Richard Padilla from MacRumors in a report last week.

Apple also usually releases its new smartphones on a Friday so it has an entire weekend to sell more devices to consumers. A Tuesday release would make it hard for some consumers to wait in line for hours just get the latest iPhone.

At this point, the report should be taken as just a rumor, since even the iPhone 6 name hasn't been confirmed by Apple yet.

"The source notes that a senior Store Leader mentioned October 14th as being an 'immense' day for Apple, adding that the whole month of October would be very busy for stores and the company itself. Apple is also said to planning a media event for Tuesday, September 16, coming a month ahead of the device's launch," Padilla said.

Apple will supposedly release a 4.7-and 5.5-inch versions of its next smartphone sometime this fall.

Some specs that have been rumored for the next iPhone so far includes: 1704 x 960 pixel resolution, a faster A8 processor, a thinner profile, bezel-free design, camera upgrades, and a more durable, sapphire screen.

The devices will likely run on iOS 8.

One of the newer rumors regarding the next iPhone indicated that it will have a Mac-like glowing logo on the back of the device, which could light up when a notification comes in, according to

This may not be the case however, according to iCrackUrIDevice's Tanner Marsh.

"My inside sources who have deep connections within Apple's supply chain have informed me that due to the process Apple will utilize for achieving the silver, space gray and gold colors on the aluminum housings, the best route for Apple to take is to not directly embed the logo until the color is accurate," Marsh wrote, according to BGR.com. "As for the modified design shape of the recessed area over the iPad Air and iPad mini, it will allow Apple to more easily and efficiently affix the logo and further provide insulation for dissipating heat."
