2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Receives Mid-Year Price Increase

General Motors has confirmed the base 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe is now available for $53,995, including a $995 shipping fee.

The mid-year price increase is $2,000 more than the vehicle was previously being sold for, according to the automaker.

The automaker also confirmed that its 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible has received a $2,000 price increase, meaning the base model is now available for a starting price of $58,995.

The convertible's price includes shipping.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray competes in the same segment as similar vehicles like the Audi R8 and Porsche 911.

GM said at in its monthly sales report earlier this week that its Corvette Stingrays are flying out of dealerships, which likely explains the price increase.

Around 2,438 Corvettes were sold in February 2014, compared to 980 sold during the same time frame in 2013, representing a 149 percent sales increase, according to the sales report.

The report did not compare coupe sales versus convertible sales however.

The optional Z51 package is now available for $4,000 as well.

The price increase for the Z51 package means a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe with the package is approximately $57,995, including shipping.
