2014 Chicago Auto Show: Ford Reveals 2015 F-150 Snow Plow-Prep Option

Ford announced at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show that its new 2015 Ford F-150 will be available with a snow plow-prep option for all cab configurations.

The option will be available on Regular, SuperCrew and SuperCab vehicles, according to the automaker.

Ford did say however that the package requires the truck to be equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine and four-wheel drive.

The plow-prep option won't be available for XL, XLT and Lariat trim levels.

The 2015 F-150 competes in the same segment as similar vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra and Ram 1500.

"Adding a snow plow-prep kit to our lineup helps ensure our customers have even more tools at their disposal to get the job done," said Eric Peterson, Ford F-150 marketing manager, in a statement.

Essentially what the feature will let drivers do is operate a plow to help move snow, according to Ford.

The feature would have been useful during the 2013-2014 winter season however as many states across the U.S. have experienced one of the snowiest winters in recent memory.

Pricing for the snow plow-prep option will be revealed sometime later this year.

The 2015 Ford F-150 will hit dealerships in the U.S. by the end of 2014.
