Apparently Danica Patrick cannot take a joke.
During NASCAR's annual awards banquet in Las Vegas on Dec. 6, comedian Jay Mohr took a shot at Patrick's lackluster rookie Sprint Cup Series season this year.
"Danica, I hope you're not too uncomfortable tonight. I know you're not used to being this close to the front," Mohr said to Patrick at the event.
Patrick was right in front of the stage when Mohr told his joke, and could clearly be seen with an unamused look on her face while sitting next to her boyfriend and fellow NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
After the crowd expelled a large gasp at Mohr's joke, he reminded the crowd that "it's a comedy show."
Mohr didn't just move on however, he proceeded to make fun of Patrick's relationship with Stenhouse.
"Next time your girlfriend asks you 'does this fire suit make me look fat?' just say no brother," Mohr said to Stenhouse when discussing a crash that Patrick started this season that also involved her boyfriend.
Patrick won a fan award later on in the night, and while accepting, she decided to address Mohr's remark.
"I have amazing fans, I'm so fortunate, and I think it's pretty safe to say Jay Mohr is not one of them," said Patrick after receiving the award.
The highlight of Patrick's rookie season was when she won the pole position for the 2013 Daytona 500 last February, and in doing so, she became the first woman to ever pole for a Sprint Cup Series race. She finished 27th in the Sprint Cup standings however, with just one top 10 finish.
Mohr later said that he "could not be more of a Danica Patrick fan" but the damage had already been done.
So what do you think of the jokes? Was it deserved based on Patrick's rookie season? Or did Mohr cross the line?
