2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Silverado Among the Contenders for North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year

General Motors is well represented in the list of contenders for the 2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year with nominees like the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.

Chrysler's lone nomination is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

No Ford vehicles made the short list, which was released on Oct. 1. The automaker hurt themselves when Ford said that the Transit Connect/ Wagon will not go on sale in the U.S. until next year, removing it from contention.

Toyota had the strongest showing among Japanese automakers with three vehicles on the list. Nominated Toyota vehicles include the 2014 Toyota Corolla, 2014 Lexus IS and 2014 Toyota Tundra.

Two Nissan vehicles made the list, including the 2014 Infiniti Q50 and the 2014 Nissan Rogue. The 2014 Mazda 3 and 2014 Mazda 6 made the short list for 2014 North American Car of the Year, while the 2014 Subaru Forester is up for Truck of the Year.
