2013 Frankfurt Auto Show Update: 2014 Nissan X-Trail Photo Teased Before Debut

The 2014 Nissan X-Trail was teased by the automaker this week before its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The X-Trail is the European version of the 2014 Nissan Rogue, according to a company press statement.

A dual debut for both models will take place on Sept. 10 in the U.S. and Germany.

The same teaser photo was released for both vehicles.

The new model is expected to be equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, similar to the one used for the Nissan Altima sedan.

"The all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue will push the envelope of CUV design starting on September 10," said Nissan in a one sentence statement.

Sales for the Rogue were up 13 percent July compared to the same time last year.

Both models will look similar, but the X-Trail will have European powertrains and tuning according to Edmunds.

Nissan expects the Rogue to compete with the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucscon.

The Rogue will go on sale later this year in the U.S. for $21,170, including the $860 destination charge.
