Venice Boardwalk Crash: Woman Killed Was a Tourist on Her Honeymoon (VIDEO)

The lone fatality during the crash was an Italian tourist who was on her honeymoon according to ABC News.

Alice Gruppioni died as a result of injuries suffered during the incident which was caught on a surveillance camera.

Gruppioni, 32, was married for just two weeks and was honeymooning with her husband, Christian. She passed away at a nearby hospital.

The crash left an additional 11 people injured as well according to ABC News. Five of the 11 people have already been released from a nearby hospital.

The couple decided to tour the U.S. Southwest for their honeymoon according to detectives. Christian described the trip in Facebook post shortly after the incident took place.

"We were happy holding hands. Then, everything changed," the husband wrote this weekend on Facebook.

Witnesses said that Christian, who was one of the 11 injured, didn't leave his wife's side once as they waiting for help to arrive.

"It was just really sad to see because that guy was just sitting down to her left, just talking to her at first," Ruiz said according to ABC News. "Right when I got there, she was speaking little. But after that, the next thing you know she just stopped talking."

Alice had worked as a manager for a family business that makes radiators, and her father ran the company according to ABC News.

Police confirmed this weekend that Nathan Campell hit the accelerator of his Dodge Avenger and drove into a group of people on the Venice Beach boardwalk at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 4.

The car was traveling approximately 60 mph according to witnesses.

Campell ditched the scene and his car before turning himself into police two hours later. He is being held on $1 million bail and police are still investigating to determine if alcohol or drugs were the cause of the incident.

"He will be tested and the charge was murder," Lt. Robert Long of the Los Angeles Police Dept. said according to ABC News.
