BMW has announced that the 2015 BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car will debut a October's 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The automaker has not released any specifications for the new i8 as of press time, but the vehicle is expected to be released sometime in 2014 according to BMW.
"The BMW i8 is a contemporary sports car perfect for everyday driving," said BMW in the announcement of the i8's debut.
The i8 debut will easily be one of the most anticipated events at the October auto show.
BMW will also be showing off its 4 Series Coupe, the Concept Active Tourer Oudoor, and X5 at Frankfurt.
Those who attend the show will be able to test-drive certain BMW vehicles according to the automaker.
The i8 was inspired by the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept revealed back in 2009 according to Edmunds.
"It combines the performance of a sports car with the consumption of a small car," BMW said about the new car. "Thanks to its plug-in hybrid drive, the majority of its day-to-day driving is possible in emission-free, fully electric mode."
Make sure to check back in October for more details regarding the BMW i8.
