The Mazda3 has been one of the most talked about vehicles since being released in June and now Mazda has some more exciting news involving their newest vehicle.
The auto maker is going to let people get behind the wheel of a Mazda3 for what it calls the "Mazda Route3-Hiroshima to Frankfurt Challenger Tour 2013."
The test drive will feature a number of different 2014 Mazda3s driven by automotive journalist, bloggers, and Mazda dealers from all around the world.
The eight Mazda3 vehicles will arrive from Hiroshima, Japan to Frankfurt, Germany three days before the opening of the 2013 International Motor Show according to a company press release.
Each model will cross nine different time zones, five countries, and two continents.
This is the third time Mazda is putting one of its new vehicles on such a "monumental" test drive. The company ran identical runs back in 1977 and in 1990 according to the press release.
The new model comes equipped with either a 155-hp SkyActiv-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 184-hp SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
The base Mazda 3 sedan with the 2.0-liter engine gets either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission according to a company press release.
The manual transmission will not be available for the 2.5-liter model.
The Mazda3 will compete with the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Ford Focus, and the Honda Civic.
The EPA said the new Mazda3 hatchback with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission returns 30 mpg in city driving and 40 on the highway. Models equipped with a six-speed manual transmission return 29 mpg in city driving and 40 mpg on the highway.
The Mazda3 sedan with the six-speed manual transmission returns 29 mpg in city driving and 41 mpg on the highway according to the EPA.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the new Mazda's. The vehicle will go on sale in the U.S. this fall.
