Electrocuted by iPhone: Apple Probes Alleged Deadly iPhone 5 Electrocution in China (VIDEO)

Apple is investigating the death of a woman who was killed by an electric shock while answering a call on her iPhone 5 last week.

On July 18, Ma Ailun, 23, was electrocuted when she took a call on her Apple device while it was charging according to Reuters.

Apple is looking into the matter after word got out regarding Ailun's death and released a press statement to Xinhua News.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offer our condolences to the (Ailun) family," said Apple in the press statement. "We will fully investigate and cooperate with authorities in this matter."

Ailun's older sister Sina Weibo said in blog post that her sister was planning her August wedding when she fell to the floor after taking a call on her smartphone.

The iPhone 5 was purchased back in December at an Apple Store and Ailun was using an official Apple charger when she was electrocuted according to the blog post.

"(I) hope that Apple Inc. can give us an explanation," the sister wrote in the post. "I also hope that all of you will refrain from using your mobile devices while charging."

Police are conducting a probe into the electrocution. Ailun's phone and charger were handed over to investigators shortly after the incident took place according to Reuters.

Apple isn't the only company that needs to be concerned as a Samsung Galaxy S3 recently exploded in a woman's pocket, setting her pants on fire and causing third-degree burns on her thigh according to PCMag.com.
