Nissan Motors said this week that it may sell its revived Datsun brand vehicles in Brazil as part of the company's push to capitalize off of emerging markets.
The company announced late last year it would resurrect Datsun as a main attraction for emerging markets like India, Indonesia, and Russia. South Africa has also been confirmed as certain brands will be sold there sometime in 2014.
The automaker eventually wants to expand the brand to locations like Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa according to Reuters.
"Brazil is a possibility," Trevor Mann, an executive vice president at the Japanese company, told Reuters when asked about specific markets.
The Japanese automaker unveiled three new models this week, including a five-door hatchback called the Go., at an event in New Delhi.
The vehicle will be sold in India for under 400,000 rupees, or $6,700, next year and will be produced at Nissan and Renault SA's plant in southern India. The plant is capable of producing 400,000 cars-per-year according to Reuters.
The company also said that it may export the new vehicles from India to South Africa next according to Mann.
"The price (of the Go.) could go even lower," Mann said about the new vehicle according to Reuters.
Nissan has been trying to reduce the manufacturing price of its vehicles to around $3000 to $5,000 a vehicle.
