Walmart Twinkies Put Up For Sale Before Hostess Planned (VIDEO)

The very first batch of Twinkies hit the shelves of approximately 1,600 Walmart stores on July 12, three days before the national debut.

By the end of this weekend, Twinkies will be available in 3,000 different Walmart stores according to UPI.com.

The company will be selling the snacks in an exclusive box that says "First Batch" on the packaging. The box also contains the company's new slogan "The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever."

"These are the first production of Twinkies since production restarted," Walmart spokeswoman Veronica Marshall said. "Each box that arrived to us contains fresh Twinkies and not frozen ones."

Walmart originally said they would start selling the tasty snacks on July 15, but they decided to change the date when stores were able to get boxes in earlier according to Marshall.

Twinkies will now have a shelf life of 45 days, which is around three weeks longer than the 26 days the company had previously listed according to UPI.com.

Hostess products have been out of production since November when Hostess Brands Inc. filed for bankruptcy.

The new company, Hostess Brands LLC, was bought for $410 million out of bankruptcy by Apollo Global Management.

Others snacks that will be reintroduced include HoHos, Suzy Q, and Zingers according to UPI.com.
