Cadillac Recalls 2013 SRX Crossovers Due To Wheels That Can Fall Off (VIDEO)

General Motors is recalling approximately 27,000 Cadillac SRX luxury crossovers for an issue with wheel nuts that could come loose.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website said that 18,871 SRX vehicles will be recalled from the U.S, and 913 vehicles are affected in Canada.

The remaining models were sold outside of North America according to the NHTSA.

The affected models were constructed from Jan. 31, 2012 through Mar. 18, 2013 with 18-inch wheels.

GM identifies all of the vehicles as 2013 even though some were produced over a year ago according to USA Today.

The NHTSA said that if the lug nuts come loose, and you don't notice the noise or vibration to tighten them, the wheels stub could come off completely meaning the wheel could become loose.

An investigation into a potential issue with the wheels was opened last November.

No accidents or injuries have been reported due to the issue as of press time.

Letters will be sent to owners starting June 3. Owners will be asked to take their vehicles to a local dealership where GM mechanics will rotate the wheels and reinstall the lug nuts free of charge.

The NHTSA has yet to say what the dealer will do if the wheels have been loose long enough to damage the threads on the wheel studs according to USA Today.

Owners of 2013 Cadillac SRX luxury crossovers with any questions or concerns may contact General Motors at 1-800-521-7300.
