Jumper Kills 5-Year-Old Girl After Landing on Top of Her During Suicide Attempt in South Korea (VIDEO)

A 39-year-old suicide jumper killed a 5-year-old girl after he fell on top of her outside his apartment building in South Korea.

The man jumped to his death from the top of an 11 story building in the southeastern port city of Busan according to the Associated Press.

The man landed on top of a small girl who was standing outside the apartment with her parents.

The man died immediately following the fall, but the girl was brought to the hospital with broken bones and brain damage. She died later on in the day at the hospital according to the Associated Press.

The parents were not harmed in the incident.

Police are still investigating the case and are currently trying to figure out why he decided to kill himself. They've only been able to confirm that he was suffering from depression as of press time.

There was no suicide note left in the man's apartment.

The official who spoke Friday declined to be named because the case is still under investigation.

South Korea has the developed world's highest suicide rate over the years, and a 2012 report put their suicide rate at 33.5 per 100,000 people according to The Christian Science Monitor.
