2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Recently Spied Resembling That Of An Old Relative

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has recently been spied and experts think it resembles an old ancestor. It does look like the G-Wagen, which has been in existence for almost 40 years. It has been over 20 years since it last received an update back in 1990.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is reported to only share one part with the outgoing model. This is in reference to the plastic lip on the C-pillar. The rest of its exterior and interior parts are all-new. Mercedes also decided to keep the G-Class boxy, to stay loyal to its characteristic as a "G."

The upcoming G-Class comes with more modern headlights. This is definitely not hard to miss as it peeks inconspicuously out of the camouflage. Overall, this off-roader is expected to undergo extensive upgrading and revisions. One of its major development is its weight reduction, down by 400-pounds.

The G-Class is to remain rugged. Its ride height and rear axles still remain the same. Industry experts also foresee a permanent four-wheel-drive system, reduction transfer case, and three differential locks to also remain.

There's the model year vs. model launch issue. It is to be introduced in the market sometime next year as the 2019 model. Some call it as the 2018 model while others follow 2019. At this point, it is not so much of a problem. At least everyone's talking about the upcoming G-Class that promises great off-roading capabilities.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is believed to be powered by V-8 and V-12 engines. However, the older 5.5-liter V-8 is offered with the AMG G63. The 2018 G-Class is expected to be part of the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September before landing in dealerships next year.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is expected to be one of the most capable off-roaders as it goes on sale next year. Its unchanged rugged demeanor is perfect for those who crave for adventure in the rugged outdoors.
