2017 Audi A6 3.0T Competition; A Sportier Version Of The A6 But Is It Worth The Price?

The 2017 Audi A6 3.0T Competition looks like a fancier and sportier version of the Audi A6 3.0T. But is this sports car really worth investing a total of US$72,175?

Car and Driver sure put its faith on the 2017 Audi A6 3.0T. In the league of upscale four-door sedan cars of German make, the 2017 Audi A6 3.0T is a great upscale starter car. The reasons are varied.

The A6 has a stop-start engine which shuts down when it stops and revives again when its brake is released. To assist in fuel efficiency, the car has an energy fuel recovery system that returns energy to the car during deceleration.

A 2017 Audi A6 3.0T usually has a seven-speed automated manual transmission with an AWD drive but it can also have an eight-speed automatic on most of its cars. Now, what would be the main difference between our regular Audi A6 3.0T with the sportier 2017 Audi A6 3.0T Competition?

For starters, the new Florett Silver A6 3.0T Competition doesn't have much difference with the regular Audi A6. It has seven more horsepower, adding up to 340 hp for its supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine.

Moreover, it gained five-spoke wheels - a legacy from the S6, plus red brake calipers. Lastly, the Sport and Black Optic Packages were made standard (this consists of summer tires, blacked-out grille, sport suspension and glossy black trim).

Are those additional features convincing enough to fork out an additional US$5,275? How about a flat-bottom steering wheel unless you order the US$500 Cold Weather package which brings a heated circular wheel?

Perhaps a US$2,550 Driver Assistance Package with its automated emergency braking system, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams and 360-degree cameras might just convince the buyer? But the 2017 Audi A6 3.0T Competition has some stiff competition from a rival German car model.

That model is the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43! A nine-speed torque converter and 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6 engine adapted from the earlier C43 will give the 2017 Audi A6 3.0T Competition a run for its money. With this new E-Class experience, a luxury sedan driver can go 100 kilometers in only 4.6 seconds, reported.
