Boston Marathon Bombing Suspects Made Devices With Toy Car Parts (VIDEO)

Federal investigators confirmed today, April 19, that components of a toy DuraTrax radio-controlled car were used to make the bombs that exploded during the Boston Marathon this week according to ABC News.

Four local hobby store owners and managers were interviewed at length by federal agents in Massachusetts and in New Hampshire. The agents questioned the store owners about sales of a 1.25 volt Tenergy battery used in radio and remote-controlled vehicles.

The same kind of battery was found in evidence photographs at the scene of the bombing this week according to the FBI.

Agents have also contacted Tenergy, a California-based company which manufactures the battery packs for DuraTrax cars.

There are multiple websites online that outline how to create a bomb using toy car parts. Back in 2011, an attempted murder of a Michigan attorney occurred after a car bomb was set up using "similar tactics" that were used this week in Boston according to the FBI.

"An item that was first used for pleasure has now been used for devastation. It's just heartbreaking," said Greg Faith, who owns Inside Out Hobbies in New Hampshire. "He (the bomber) may have come here. It's horrifying."

Faith stated that as soon as he saw evidence pictures during a news broadcast he recognized the batteries and "other parts" that can be found in most radio-controlled car immediately.

The bombs used at the Boston marathon this week killed three people and injured over 170 others near the finish line of the race. Two suspects were identified on April 18, one of which has been killed.

The other suspect is believed to be on the run from police officials as of press time. Both individuals are originally from Russia and moved to Kazakhstan when they were little according to CNN. It is currently unknown how long both individuals have been in the U.S.

Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts said residents of Boston and its nearby communities should "stay indoors, with their doors locked" according to CNN.
