Chevrolet Records 10th Straight Quarter Of Record Global Sales

Chevrolet sold approximately 1.8 million vehicles worldwide in the first quarter of 2013, recording their 10th consecutive quarter of record worldwide sales according to a company press release.

General Motors overall sold over 2.36 million in the first quarter of 2013, which is an increase of 3.6 percent.

Sales were up 1.5 percent this time last year according to GM.

"Chevrolet is growing around the world by leveraging GM's global engineering and design expertise to deliver the right products in the right markets," said Mark Reuss, GM president of North America in the press release. "And because a product like the Cruze has been developed for different markets with a wide variety of consumer needs, we have the flexibility to offer more performance and capability options, like the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel model that will be launching in the U.S. later this year."

In the U.S. sales equaled 469,000 in the first quarter of 2013, which is up five percent from last year. Sales increased thanks to vehicles like the Traverse, which was up 22 percent for the quarter.

Other vehicles that saw sales increase include the Chevy Impala, Silverado, and updated Traverse.

The top five Chevrolet sales markets in the first quarter of 2013 included:

United States- 469,000

China- 165,000

Brazil- 141,000

Mexico- 44,000

Argentina- 37,000
