Steve McQueen Motorcycle Up For Auction For Estimated $40,000 (PHOTOS)

Hollywood icon Steve McQueen's 1914 Indian Model F motorcycle will be auctioned off in England later this month.

From the 1950's through the 1970's McQueen was one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood. Nicknamed the "King of Cool," McQueen performed most of his own stunts in movies and was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award in

The Model F vehicle is one of 242 motorcycles that will be sold on April 28 at the International Classic Motorcycle Show in Stafford, England.

"The men who raced these early board-track motorcycles were not only pioneers and champions of early motor racing but must also have been incredibly brave," said Ben Walker, head of Bonhams' motorcycle department according to The Wall Street Journal. "In this age of health and safety the idea of riding at up to 100 mph with no helmet or protective clothing, knowing you have no way of stopping in a hurry, is a terrifying thought."

Indian motorcycles were produced from 1901 through 1953 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Recognized as the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world, the company went bankrupt in the mid 1950's.

The Model F could go over 100 mph when it was produced, but has no break or clutch. The only way a person could stop the motorcycle would be to cut off the ignition entirely. The bike was constructed for wooden track back when actual motorcycle racing tracks didn't exist.

A number of McQueen's former vehicles have been sold in the past for record amounts and the motorcycle is expected to as well. McQueen died Nov. 7, 1980 of a heart attack, once day after doctors removed a 5 pound cancerous tumor from his stomach according to IMDB.

The 1914 Indian Model F is predicted to go for anywhere between $33,576 and $42, 732 according to The Wall Street Journal.

"This machine was part of McQueen's collection rather than one he would have raced," said Ben Walker, head of the Bonhams Motorcycle Department in a press statement.
