"Rick and Morty" season 3 is still underway, but fans finally have some concrete details about it. In a recent leak, creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland may be preparing something special for the return of the show.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere with an hour-long episode. It might be a way of apologizing to fans for getting their hopes up last year when Harmon and Roiland revealed that they are looking into a 2016 release. Earlier this year, the creators could do nothing but say sorry and even trolled fans into believing that the first trailer has been released.
The premiere will be the only one that will run for an hour. It is expected to feature Rick's escape from prison, where he was taken to back in season 2's last episode. Morty and the gang might have been brewing something for all these months, and fans will be able to witness their plan unfold soon. The rest of the 14 planned episodes for the next season will be 22 minutes long.
The release date of the show has also been supposedly unveiled to be on April 24, but Adult Swim took measures to ensure that fans will not hope for it. According to the network, it still has not confirmed a launch date for "Rick and Morty" season 3 and it will be the first to announce it, not Wikipedia nor IMDb.
"Adult Swim has not said anything about when Season 3 will be released," a representative said. "There is no confirmed date and anything stating otherwise is incorrect."
However, many fans are still hopeful of the April 24 launch date. Adding to that is Mr. Poopybutthole's prediction that the next season will air sometime in April. When season 2 ended, the character appeared, saying that season 3 can be expected in a year and a half (or beyond). Seeing that the last episode was released in October 2015, "Rick and Morty" may come back anytime in April.
Adult Swim is yet to officially announce a release date for "Rick and Morty" season 3. More details about it are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
