Man Thrown From Plane Missing After 2,500-Foot Drop (VIDEO)

A man thrown from a plane this week is still missing causing a statewide investigation to look for the unidentified man in Tennessee according to the Associated Press.

The man was thrown from approximately 2,500-feet while learning to fly from an instructor the police report clams. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police in Collegedale and Hamilton County were still looking for the man as of Mar. 29 according to The Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Collegedale Municipal Airport employee Lowell Sterchi said the man was being trained by an instructor in his Zodiac 601 aircraft when all-of-a-sudden the canopy came off.

The man's seat belt was not properly fastened and he was thrown out from the plane over the East Brainerd and Apison areas of the county.

He did not have a parachute attached to him before being thrown out of the plane according to The Chattanooga Times Free Press. Since he did not have any other life-saving device that could have helped him during the fall, it is presumed that the man is dead somewhere.

The unidentified instructor landed the plane and was not physically hurt. Sterchi said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified.

Police have waited to identify the body as they want to find it first before having to break the news to the mans family,
