Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Date: AT&T To Sell New Google Phone For $250 On April 16 (VIDEO)

The new Galaxy S4 will be available for pre-order on April 16 through AT&T customers, but the company has still yet to reveal when the phones will arrive according to CNN.

The phone will cost $250 with a two-year contract which is 25 percent more expensive than most high-end smartphones.

The average cost of the iPhone 5 went for approximately $200 when it was released, though many providers have cut the prices down a bit since September.

While it's not new for a company to charge over $200 for one phone, many people are going to be disappointed that $250 is the cheapest option.

The only major phone to previously be sold for over $200 was the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, due to expensive production fees to the phone's battery according to Motorola. Other phones that have been released for more than $200 include the Samsung Epic $G and the HTC Thunderbolt.

Both phones sold a respectable amount of units, but nothing to the magnitude of the Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5. The Epic 4G sold approximately two million copies back in 2010, and the Thunderbolt sold less than that amount despite getting off to a good start according to a company press release.

T-Mobile had previously revealed that they'll start selling Samsung's newest device on May 1 for $99 up front and $20 every month for two years. AT&T will either released the phone around the same time T-Mobile does slightly before to try gaining an advantage.

The newest Samsung device features a five-inch screen with high resolution, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and eye control technology.

The phone will also reportedly run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as well according to CNET.com.
