BMW is definitely one of the best luxury car manufacturers and it has reached its stellar status because of its record for coming up with the best cars ever known. The 2017 BMW X1 is a good addition to the roster, however, it also has its fair share of critics.
According to The Car Connection, the 2017 BMW X1 provides pleasant and impressive driving experience, however, it somehow lacks in its total package. This is why it only garnered a score of 6.2 points out a possible 10. It only rated highest of seven points in the fuel economy and everything else was rated 6 points.
The 2017 BMW X1 comes only with one engine. It is powered by 2.0-liter inline-4 which is capable of producing 228-horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can also accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds. This is excellent especially for a subcompact crossover/crossover this size.
It is also understandable why it rated the highest in fuel economy. It does have an EPA 23 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway. It returns 26 mpg when combined with front drive and 22/31/25 mpg with all-wheel-drive.
As it is reviewed pleasant, some industry experts don't consider it totally inspiring. For one, its cargo space is considered adequate for the subcompact class but is rather small for a mainstream crossover. The front seats don't fare well in thigh bolstering and also has thin back support. The rear seats are comfortable as it has wider legroom but quite narrow.
As added by Car and Driver, the 2017 BMW X1 is at the end of the day still a good vehicle of its class. Whether it is considered a subcompact crossover or mainstream, it doesn't matter. It still boasts of standard feature highlights such as power-adjustable front seats with memory, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a power liftgate.
The site even considers the 2017 BMW X1 as the best crossover in a small luxury segment. For all its worth, it is still a classy and upscale vehicle, both interior and exterior. Though some may not be a fan, for many, it is still worth the investment.
