The brand new Porsche 911 is receiving an upgrade quite early. The vehicle had been on sales for just over a year but the automaker decided to revamp the vehicle.
The 911 S models get an optional performance kit that gives the cars a 30-horsepower bump. The current owners of the 911 need not feel left out as they will be able to retrofit the performance kit to their cars. However, this is possible only if they have checked the box for the Sport Chrono package.
The performance package that is given is not just a simple engine tune. The kit that is provided also includes larger turbochargers. The Sport Chrono package comes with dynamic engine mounts. It also includes a modified brake cooling system and a sport exhaust system with two central tailpipes, reported Auto Blog.
It is not just one or two minor changes that the vehicle will receive. For the 2018 model, the Porsche 911 will have a number of changes in the interior and exterior colors. It will also have an enhanced range of connectivity options.
The other improvements that the automaker has planned for the 2018 model year will benefit the company's lineup completely. As of now the Porsche Connect offers are completely available for only the Panamera.
The company is ensuring that the vehicle range receives a full suite of Porsche Connect services available to any car that already has the service. The upgrade is being given free of cost. However, the car owners will have to make a visit to the dealer to avail the offer. This is for the cars that left the factory before June 2016, reported Trendolizer.
The new service includes in-car WiFi with LTE access. The customers in China and Japan will also get an enhanced concierge service. What this means is that the customers will be able to book flights, rental cars, hotel rooms, and make restaurant reservations with saved credit card data. The Connect Plus service is standard in the 911 and Panamera. It comes as an option in other Porsches.
Finally, 2018 brings a number of new interiors and exterior colors. Certain colors are reserved for certain models, but with enough money, we're sure Porsche could make an exception. Saffron Yellow Metallic is an exclusive 911 color while Palladium Metallic can only be found on the Cayenne. Photos aren't yet available but look for some pretty new pictures soon.
The kit is available for all new 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera 4S, and 911 Targa 4S models. The car is expected to cost about $12,350 in the United States.
