Kickass Torrents (KAT) team are now reportedly busy preparing for the upcoming "Happy Torrents Day" event which has been a tradition of the site for the last five years. Despite the issues, the team still managed to continue the tradition on their new site?
Kickass Torrents has been axed by the U.S. government last July 2016 due to the legal issues and the arrest of its founder, Artem Vaulin. However, the team continues to operate by opening a new forum, Katcr.co, which hints of the return of their operations too.
True enough, come December last year, a new torrent site came out with a great resemblance of the KAT look and feel. As of press time, the site is still operational and is reportedly gaining more traffic.
Now, KAT.cr has announced its upcoming Torrents Day celebration dubbed "Happy Torrents Day" which is scheduled on March 30.
Followers of KAT can recall that this is the same tradition that the site has been doing the past years. The upcoming event from KAT.cr even has the same schedule of March 30 that Kickass Torrents has traditionally held their past Torrents Day celebration too.
The upcoming "Happy Torrents Day" event will have the same program similar to Kickass Torrents' previous Torrents Day celebration. The upcoming event also allows people to freely share as many torrents that they want to upload on the new site.
"Happy Torrents Day" aims to encourage users to share the most number of torrents they can do on that day. The celebration aims to "honor and celebrate the freedom and ability to share," says Mr. Gooner, a staff of KAT.cr.
In the same interview of Torrent Freak with Mr. Gooner, it was mentioned that KATcr is not a successor of KAT. In fact, it was confirmed that KATcr is KAT, although there is now a new team that manages the technical side of the site.
Mr. Gooner also revealed that the founder of Kickass Torrents has never run the site. The staff explained that the old site was run by their Super Users, Team Kickass, uploaders, Translators, and community members. The staff also mentioned that KATcr is still running with the same command of administration and policies.
