The 2017 Mini Countryman has been officially confirmed as the company's largest car in its fleet. This reboot is part of Mini's effort to capitalize on the growing popularity of premium and spacious SUVs.

The 2017 Mini Countryman is a follow-up to the first model which was first released in 2010. The new Countryman is bigger than its predecessor and packs quite a lot of new equipment and now sports an upgraded powertrain.

Mini Countrymen has learned a lot with its first venture into the SUV market. Finally, the carmaker has gone full-circle and applied everything its consumer base demanded into the 2017 Countryman.

Among the features that were missing on the first Mini Countryman were reversing camera, rear air bags, front parking sensors, and back seat air vents. All of these features are now standard to the 2017 Countryman, along with a new navigation system, climate control, and powered tailgate.

The base Countryman model packs a 134-horsepower engine, while the Countryman S trim has a 189-horsepower engine. Both models can be equipped with either front- or all-wheel drive. Transmission choices are six-speed manual which is standard, six-speed automatic, and eight-speed automatic options.

According to BMW Blog, the high-performance model dubbed John Cooper Works will hit showrooms in April, while a plug-in model of the Countryman will arrive in June. On top of the list is the Mini Cooper S Countryman ALL4 which packs an eight-speed automatic transmission and can accelerate from zero to 60mph in just seven seconds.

According to Motor Authority, the standard 2017 Mini Countryman model starts at $26,950. The high-end model with the performance upgrades could cost in upwards of $40,000.
