Upcoming BMW X2 Compact Crossover Spotted Doing Test Drives

A production version of the BMW X2 Compact Crossover was recently spotted doing test drives. Despite being adorned in camouflage decals, the stylish design of the compact crossover is still obvious. A recently shared video also gave motoring fans a sneak peak of the crossover doing test drives in the harsh weather condition of the Arctic Circle.

It looks like BMW is sticking to the original design principles of the BMW X2 when it was revealed as a concept idea. The recently photographed test car retains the wide twin grille and narrow headlights. There are subtle changes on the car's lower fascia which are now a bit simpler and the windshield and roof retained their original design.

The rear part of the test car reveals a narrow and wraparound taillight design. This taillights sport the same design cue as the concept car, although it is now a bit angular, according to Motor1.

The BMW X2 Compact Crossover will be added to the growing family of crossovers currently populated by the X1, X4 and the X6 models. On the other hand, the BMW X2 will offer a more stylish and less utilitarian design. This means that the crossover will focus more on design cues rather than utility features.

Not much is known about the specs of the BMW X2, especially since the automaker has kept everything under the radar. Nevertheless, there are certain speculations claiming that the X2 will be available in three- and four-cylinder variants. Front- and all-wheel-drive models are also thrown into the conversation.

According to BMW Blog, one model of the BMW X2 Compact Crossover will pack a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine while the other one will have a 2.0-liter diesel engine. These are just for the base models. Expected on top of the list is the new B48 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
