Soon You'll See Overwatch Character's Background and Lore!

Remember that project that got canceled when Overwatch Season 4 arrived? Yes, the Overwatch: First Strike graphic novel which tells everything Overwatch from day one to current times. The project and Overwatch lead writer, Michael Chu discussed the implementation of character backgrounds and lore for Overwatch in-game.

It is very evident the every Overwatch character is a mystery on their own, and understanding their background is as important as to knowing the history of the game. Apparently, every character's biographies are unknown. Thus, Chu together with the Overwatch developers will implement character's background and lore in the next upcoming updates.

"We're actively working on getting character biographies, and story information displayed in-game. We have some different ideas about how to do this, and you'll probably see the results rolling out little by little in future patches. Ideally, we'd love for you to be able to get most of this information in the game, so it's something we'll continue to work towards," says Chu in an Overwatch Forum.

Every map and location in Overwatch represent some of the characters at the same time their hometowns or places. Each map or location details a story about an Overwatch character. One example is Ecopoint: Antartica dubbed as Mei's research facility. Also, Other characters notable appearances like Lucio's banner in Numbai and D.Va's appearance in posters and autographed pictures. Each detail in Overwatch are symbols of who and what the character history and background.

According to DVSgaming, "new players to Overwatch (or Blizzard games in general) would have a hard time understanding who is who and why they are the way they are." Nonetheless, the implication of backgrounds and lore adds up to the depth of each Overwatch character and relativity.
