"Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 might just be around the corner than you might expect. Reports surfaced recently that the 3rd instalment of the dark fantasy series has been confirmed by Viz Media's Kevin Hamric.
We haven't seen Kaneki and the other flesh-eating ghouls since Season 2 last aired on March 26, 2015. Well, unless of course, you re-watched the entire series over and over.
But rejoice as Viz Media's Senior Director of Sales and Marketing, Kevin Hamric, confirmed that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 is "coming shortly." "Nothing that's been recently released, but 'One-Punch Man' is coming back on with season two. There's going to be another season of 'Tokyo Ghoul' coming shortly. Later in the year, those would be the bigger releases on the anime side," Hamric said as reports ComicBook.
Don't get your hopes up just yet. The third instalment has not been officially announced in Japan as of this writing. And that DroidReport pointed out that since this isn't the first time "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 has been teased by the studio, Hamric "misspoke or was misquoted about a new Tokyo Ghoul season" according to Viz Media.
The exec did not in fact provide an official release date and the third season is not scheduled, yet. And "My Hero Academia" is the anime series receiving another season.
Remember in 2015, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 was teased that it will be aired for 2016. Unfortunately, a new mobile game was released instead of the highly anticipated dark fantasy series. Rumors even came to a conclusion that the anime was going to be cancelled.
But don't just jump into that yet. In the meantime, let's all look forward the manga which is set to be released this fall as Viz Media finally obtained license to release the manga's sequel. We will keep you updated on the latest updates on "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 including its, hopefully, official release date.
