Five Iconic Cars That Have Made It To Hollywood Fame; From 'Back to the Future' to 'Transformers'

Hollywood is truly the place to get attention and mileage - and this can be said for the auto industry. Aside from being a status symbol, the choice of the vehicle sometimes makes or breaks a movie. There are even specific films, like "The Fast and the Furious" and the "James Bond" franchise, that made it their business to show off some of the most impressive wheels on earth.

With the 89th Academy Awards recently held, even gearheads have found themselves talking about movies. Indeed, Hollywood has been the platform for some of the most iconic car models to-date.

That said, it would be interesting to know where some of the unforgettable cars are now and how much they are worth. Fortunately, the folks at Autoguide thought it would be fun to come up with a list of the most iconic cars that have been seen in the movies over the past 50 years.

Chevrolet Camaro from "The Transformers." First on the list is the Chevrolet Camaro. Who could ever forget the yellow beautiful sports car more popularly known as Bumblebee from "The Transformers?" The model started off as a second generation 1977 Chevrolet Camaro, but then through adaptive capabilities, got itself reinvented as a 2009 model. While this car might be worth a lot, Bumblebee's efforts to save humanity have made it extra priceless.

1980 Lamborghini Countach LP 4005 from "Cannoball Run." While the 1980 Lamborghini Countach LP 4005 is already an icon as it is, movie junkies might remember this car from "Cannonball Run." This car is an outrageous style exotic car that became more than just an icon of its generation. The model that was used in the movie would be worth somewhere around $343,883 by now.

Mini Cooper from "The Italian Job." A Mini Cooper is more than just that cute buggy that Mr. Bean drives around London with on a sunny day. It is not always as unassuming and calm as it looks, as gearheads might remember from "The Italian Job." These Minis will always be remembered for the mind-blowing stunts that they pulled off in that movie.

1963 Model 117 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle from "Herbie." While the 1963 Model 117 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle is a legend on its own in the auto industry, it has the same reverence in the movie world. From everybody's car, this was turned into a Hollywood icon when Walt Disney picked this to star in its "Herbie" movies, which had become timeless classics.

1981 DeLorean DMC-12 from "Back to the Future." This car has grown to be so popular that kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s could almost see an old man with fuzzy hair and a kid pop out of the gullwing doors every time they see one. While this car has grown to be a time traveling icon, it has become very rare nowadays.

Hollywood would not be the place it is today without the many memories associated with some of the cars that have grown into icons. From action movies to childhood favorites, it can be said that movies run on four wheels. While almost every film would feature a car nowadays, there are just some that would remain in everyone's hearts. What's your most unforgettable Hollywood car?
